Although they are nowadays also known for their 4 stroke machines in street bike versions, the Yamaha people are still working on the perfection of 2 stroke engines. This type of engine is ideal for the small displacement bikes of 50-125cc engines, but the larger motorcycles have normally been equipped with 4 stoke engines due to the lower noise levels, and no visible exhaust pollution and less vibration, since the early 70's. Two stroke engines have less parts, are easier to keep in tune and require normally less maintenance. The Yamaha 2 stroke sports bike RZ250 succeeded in reducing many undesirable traits by improving the engine design and water cooling it. It also puts out a whopping 35hp and became a best selling sports type motorcycle. Honda, Suzuki and Kawasaki were stimulated by these sales to also produce 2 stroke machines. The majority of these bikes were patterned after Grand Prix racers which have been active in world competition.

While these smaller racing replicas were gathering popularity, Yamaha unveiled their RD500LC (known as the RZV500R in Japan) at the Tokyo Motor Show in 1983. While previous releases were replicas of G.P. racers in the 250cc class, this new bike has the same displacement and layout as the Grand Prix racers then in competition , and this caused a great sensation throughout the bike world.

Designed with an aim towards lightness and compactness and to be utilized with their G.P. engine of YZR fame, the styling and layout were accomplished first. Mounting this 64hp powerhouse in the compact bike caused a few problems; however, all came out right in the end. The layout of the exhaust system in this V4 engine is unique in that the front two cylinder exhaust forward and back two vent to the rear. To equalize back pressure and maintain the same tuning on all four cylinders, the rear two exhaust pipes cross over each other, under the saddle, to maintain the same length on all four pipes. Previous motorcycles had special carburetors set between the V banks, but the RZV avoids this and utilizes normal carburetors for better maintenance. Yes, this is a true replica of a Grand Prix racing machine that is available for street use by all enthusiasts.
\r
What's in the Box?
\r
\r
Plastic model assembly kit
\r
Decal Sheet
\r
Instruction manual
\r
Paint guide
\r

After researching the distinctive style of American motorcycles, Yamaha proudly released the XZ1000 Virago in 1984.
\r
Features of the Virago along with its teardrop shaped fuel tank and gorgeous double seat, now come accurately reproduced as a plastic assembly model kit. Recently, the call for 300km/h plus super sports bikes has motivated several manufactures to bring out powerful contenders. Kawasaki answered the call at the 1999 Paris Motorcycle Show, with the impressive debut of their all-new Ninja ZX-12R. This Ninja was reportedly created in the image of a fighter plane, which comes as no surprise considering that its slippery aerodynamics involved the cooperation of the Aerospace Division of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. In fact, the ZX-12R spent more time in the wind tunnel during its development phase than any motorcycle in Kawasaki's history. The results are evident: small winglets on the sides of the fairing separate airflow around the bike; small wind deflectors on the lower forks deflect turbulent air from the engine; a long lip on the edge of the fairing further smoothens out airflow. Also, projecting just ahead of the front fairing, a large scoop takes advantage of higher air pressure, heightening intake efficiency. A monocoque frame backbone creates an airbox that allows air to pass through the inside of the bike for cooling in addition to ensuring overall rigidity. The powerplant of the Ninja ZX-12R is a fuel injected 4-cylinder 1,199cc engine that pumps out an abundant 178hp. Its four-into-two-into-one exhaust system features a titanium muffler paired with a catalyzer, which helps eliminate unburned hydrocarbons for cleaner emissions. Kawasaki brilliantly raised the superbike standard in performance, power and aerodynamics with their series flagship, the Ninja ZX-12R.

    What's in the Box?

        Plastic kit

        Instruction sheet

        Paint guide

        Decal sheet

The Worlds Most Powerful Sports Motorcycle - With its debut in 2006, the Kawasaki ZZR1400 (also known as the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14 outside of Europe and Japan) was given the name "The Open Class King". The uniqueness of the Monkey made it an instant hit among the young and young at heart. In August 1978, Honda released the big brother of the Monkey and appropriately named it "Gorilla". Save the gas tank and seat, the Gorilla adopted fundamentally the same parts as the Monkey. The most defining aspect of the Gorilla is its swelled chest, an oversized gas tank, which boasts a capacity of 9 liters providing a 630km maximum running distance. Its powerplant was a 49cc air-cooled single cylinder SOHC engine, which was also used on Honda's best selling Super Cub. The Gorilla was also equipped with a manual 4-speed transmission, opposed to the automatic 3-speed system of the Monkey. Production was ceased in 1992 but the popularity of the machine, however did not dwindle, with the few remaining used Gorillas fetching premium prices. It was in February 1998 when Honda resumed production, this time bringing out a new Gorilla equipped with the Monkey's large headlamp and using chrome parts on the headlight casing, fender and other places. January 1999 saw the production of 3500 "Honda Gorilla Spring Collection" machines. This version was meant to shine, and features chrome parts on virtually every visible part of the bike.
