With revised suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, lightweight Globe wheels, and specially built engines, the XAs were ready to compete. After mixed results in practice, both cars reverted to proven Sandown engines overnight — a decision that paid off.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e    On race day, Gibson’s car failed early, leaving Moffat to battle fiercely. A spin and a dramatic push-to-pits by rival Chivas saw Moffat regain the lead.
