This train pack is DCC Sound Fitted with a sound decoder in both power cars.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eHistory\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\r\u003cp\u003eIntroduced in 1975, the production HSTs revolutionised long-distance passenger travel in Britain. In total, 197 production power cars were built by BREL at Crewe, along with almost 850 Mk3 coaches built in Derby, to form 7-9 coach trains between two power cars. \u003c\/p\u003e\r\u003cp\u003eInitially used on the GWR, they were also used in large numbers on the Midland Mainline, Cross Country and ECML InterCity services operating at speeds of up to 125mph. Incredibly long-lived, they were eventually deemed too expensive and outdated to operate on the majority of British mainlines, finally being replaced by modern units like the Hitachi IEP units in the 2020s. \u003c\/p\u003e\r\u003cp\u003eThe last remaining operator of HSTs is ScotRail, where short-form sets have operated its Inter7City services across Scotland since 2018.
