It was essentially a Tiger I, identical in hull and tracks, and above all in its heavy armor, stripped of its main gun and equipped with a crane suitable for towing other tanks and lifting heavy loads. It was also fitted with spare parts, equipment for repairing other armored vehicles, and reserve ammunition.
