It then made its first Bathurst 1000 appearance with Bob Jane and Ian Geoghegan behind the wheel in the 1977 edition of the Great Race. The pair qualified fifth with a lap time of 2:25.9 in their only Bathurst start together.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\r\u003cp\u003eThe car also received the honour of the “Dulux Refinisher Best Appearing Car Award”. As a result, on the morning of the race it was the first car to be rolled out onto the starting grid in front of the  huge crowd trackside and a nation wide television audience.
