Completed in January 1940, Yukikaze was the eighth ship of the class and quickly earned a fearsome reputation during World War II.

She saw intense combat throughout the Pacific Theater—including major battles at Midway, Guadalcanal, the Mariana Islands, and Leyte Gulf. In addition to frontline combat, Yukikaze also served as a patrol vessel and provided crucial transport support.

When launched, she was equipped with three twin 12.7cm gun turrets and two quadruple 61cm torpedo launchers. As the war progressed, her weaponry was significantly upgraded with a range of anti-aircraft guns and radar—transforming her from a sleek destroyer into a heavily armed warship.

One of her most notable moments came during Operation Ten-Go in April 1945. Fighting alongside the doomed battleship Yamato, Yukikaze played a key role in rescuing survivors and returned safely to port—emerging from the war with remarkably little damage. Her resilience earned her the nickname "The Lucky Destroyer."

After the war, Yukikaze was used to repatriate Japanese soldiers and civilians. In 1947, she was transferred to the Republic of China as part of war reparations, continuing her service with distinction into the 1960s.

    Yukikaze Specifications:

        Standard displacement: 2,000 tons

        Length: 118.5m; Beam: 10.8m

        Output: 52,000hp; Speed: 35.5 knots

        Armament: 2 x twin 12.7cm naval guns, 5 x triple 25mm AA guns, 14 x single 25mm AA guns, 2 x13mm AA guns, 2 x quadruple 61cm torpedo launchers

    What's in the Box?

        Plastic kit

        Instruction sheet

        Paint guide

        Decal sheet

        Display Stand
