1972 Australian Touring Car Championship – End of an Era
The 1972 ATCC marked the final season for Group C Improved Production cars before a shift to new touring car rules in 1973. Spanning eight rounds, the championship saw Bob Jane claim his fourth and final title in a 5.7L Chevrolet Camaro, edging out Allan Moffat’s Mustang and Mike Stillwell’s Ford Escort. The season also saw the ATCC debut of Peter Brock in a Holden LJ Torana GTR XU-1, setting the stage for a new generation of Australian touring car legends.
