1974 Bathurst – Triumph Against the Odds

Classic Carlectables is proud to present this special Gold Livery Edition of the Ford XA Falcon GT in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the 1974 Bathurst victory, driven by John Goss and Kevin Bartlett.

The 1974 Bathurst race was a challenging year for Ford fans, with the company withdrawing official support from motorsport. While Holden introduced the powerful SL/R 5000, Ford had only three Falcon entries on the grid, including the high-profile but untested Moffat/Glemser Brut 33 Falcon, which later suffered mechanical issues.

Despite tough track conditions and fierce competition from the Holden Dealer Team, the Goss/Bartlett Falcon stayed consistent and avoided major trouble. As the race progressed, leading Holden entries began to falter – Brock’s Torana retired while Bond’s car was black-flagged due to oil leaks.

In a dramatic turn, John Goss took the lead, battling heavy rain and a puncture before handing over to Kevin Bartlett, who powered through the final laps. Against all odds, the duo claimed a historic victory, giving Ford fans a reason to celebrate in a year full of setbacks.

This highly detailed 1/18 scale Gold Livery Edition captures the race-ready character of the iconic XA Falcon GT. The front end features vinyl-covered headlights and driving lights, a finely moulded grille and realistic front spoiler, while the XA GT Hardtop bonnet includes detailed ducts and hold-downs.

Lightweight Globe alloy rims are fitted with Bridgestone racing slicks, while the boot features the minimalist race-day setup with a fuel tank and hose. Inside, the detailed cabin includes a steering wheel, full dashboard instrumentation, a unique dash-top gauge and roll cage. Soft rubber racing seats feature detailed harnesses, buckles and strapping, with a fire extinguisher positioned behind the seat.

The engine bay features finely moulded hoses, tubing and detailed components, including side-draught carburettors, engine block, rockers and hosing. A Motorcraft battery and radiator feature reproduced decals, while metal spring bonnet hinges provide smooth operation and positioning.

The detailed chassis features functional front suspension and steering, with visible springs, sway bar, brake discs and wheel rims. Each model includes a certificate of authenticity and production number plate mounted to the chassis.
