Classic Carlectables 1/18 Diecast Replica of the Ford XW Falcon GT-HO Phase II Shell Yellow

In 1970, Ford introduced the new XW range and, with a strong desire to succeed at Bathurst, released the GT-HO Phase II. With approximately 400 produced, the XW GT-HO Phase II has become one of Australia's most celebrated performance Falcons.

The Phase II featured a top-of-the-line interior with a centre console, sports steering wheel and dashboard, radio, floor mats, door sill plates and detailed door trims with woodgrain and chrome accents. Externally, it remained similar to the previous XW while gaining distinctive 14x6-inch five-slot rims with chrome hubcaps.

Mechanically, the XW Phase II represented a major step forward from its predecessor. The trusty Windsor engine was replaced by the new 351 cubic inch Cleveland V8. While the GT-HO engine was officially rated at 300bhp, its true output was believed to be closer to 345bhp, giving the Phase II formidable performance potential.

The chassis and suspension were extensively upgraded to match its increased performance. Heavy-duty shock absorbers and six-leaf rear springs were standard, while both front and rear stabiliser bars were increased in diameter. Unique heavy-duty front springs were also fitted, along with revised front spindles and new upper control arms that provided additional clearance for wider tyres.

These extensive upgrades transformed the XW GT-HO Phase II into a formidable performance machine. The highly modified Falcon proved its capability on the racetrack, with Allan Moffat taking victory at both Sandown and Bathurst behind the wheel.
