The 1971 race was packed with drama, record-breaking laps, and unforgettable moments. Allan Moffat, driving the factory-backed GT-HO, dominated the event from pole position with a blistering qualifying time of 2m 38.9s—a full three seconds ahead of his closest rival. Despite dusty conditions and even a cardboard box stuck to the grille, Moffat held the lead and crossed the finish line after 130 laps, setting a new race record of 6h 09m 49.5s.
This special edition model pays tribute to that historic win, capturing the spirit and performance of one of Australia’s most celebrated race cars.
