Classic Carlectables 1/18 VY SS Ute 'Phantom Mica'

Australians have a unique love for their Utes. Originally developed as a practical workhorse for the farm, the Australian Ute has evolved to take on many personalities, from surf culture and tradespeople to highly modified custom vehicles.

The VY Ute was a facelift of the popular VU, featuring a sharper-designed nose and a European-styled interior. Three option packages carried over from the VU Ute, with the SS positioned at the top of the range.

The VY SS was powered by a High Output 5.7 litre V8 producing 245kW of power and paired with a six-speed manual transmission as standard. Performance enhancements extended beyond the engine, with the SS also featuring strut braces, a distinctive body kit and a high-performance exhaust system.

The VY range also expanded Holden's Ute family with the introduction of the Crewman and the return of the One Tonner. This sparked rapid growth across the Holden Ute range and represented its first major expansion since the Ute's re-introduction in 1990.
