HORNBY BR EARLY THOMPSON A2-2 COTN NO. 60501 WITH STEAM GENERATOR

The Hornby BR Early Thompson Class A2/2 No. 60501 is a highly detailed OO gauge model railway steam locomotive featuring innovative steam generator technology for an incredibly realistic operating experience.

The full-size London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) Class A2/2 comprised six 4-6-2 steam locomotives rebuilt by Edward Thompson during 1943 and 1944 from the earlier P2 Class express passenger locomotives. No. 60501 represented one of these iconic locomotives and carried the historic name "Cock O' the North" during its service. The class remained in operation until withdrawals began in 1959, with the final locomotives leaving service by 1960.

This Hornby model faithfully recreates No. 60501 and features an integrated steam generator that produces realistic water vapour from the chimney, bringing the model to life on your layout. The steam effects are synchronised with the locomotive's movement to enhance the authentic operating experience.

Factory-fitted digital sound reproduces recordings representative of the Class A2/2, with synchronised exhaust beats creating a lifelike steam locomotive performance. Additional premium details include sprung buffers, a die-cast footplate and a flickering firebox effect that simulates the appearance of a working steam locomotive.
