Italeri 1/48 Macchi MC.202 Folgore Plastic Model Kit

Macchi MC.202 Folgore is a 1/48 scale plastic model kit representing the famous Italian fighter of the Regia Aeronautica during the Second World War. This release features 100% new moulds together with a photo-etched fret, Super Decals Sheet for 6 versions, cockpit 3D decals, a masking sheet and a colour instruction sheet.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; glue and paint are not included and are required to complete the model.

The Macchi MC.202 Folgore represented a significant innovation for the fighter units of the Regia Aeronautica. Its aerodynamic design was combined with the powerful German DB 601 inline engine, produced under licence by the Italian aeronautical industry. The new powerplant and strong aircraft design provided the Regia Aeronautica with a fighter capable of engaging Allied fighters on equal terms. Compared with the previous generation of radial-engined fighters such as the Fiat G-50 and Macchi MC.200, its flight performance was considerably improved. The aircraft was manoeuvrable and fast, reaching 600 km/h, while early versions carried two 12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT machine guns mounted in the nose.
