History: 

The car is a star in the film, but its real-life history is just as fascinating. Don Yenko, a former race car driver and car dealer, was not happy with the performance of the stock Camaro. He took advantage of a loophole in GM's ordering system to transplant the Corvette's massive 7-liter engine into the lighter Camaro. Only 201 examples of these "Yenko Super Cars" (SYC) were built in 1969. Today they are considered absolute rarities and fetch millions in auction prices.
