Tamiya 1/20 Honda F1 RA272 Plastic Model Kit

The Tamiya 1/20 Honda F1 RA272 recreates the giant-killing machine that delivered Honda's first Formula One victory, and the first-ever win for a Japanese manufacturer at motorsport's highest level.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

1965 was Honda's second season in Formula One, and the RA272 was the machine developed for that challenge, built around an aluminium monocoque chassis and a 1.5-litre V12 DOHC engine mounted transversely behind the cockpit, producing a class-leading 230hp or more. Improvements throughout the season to the exhausts, cooling and steering systems paid off at the Mexican Grand Prix, the final round of 1965 and also the last F1 race run to the 1.5-litre normally-aspirated formula. Starting third on the grid, Richie Ginther's RA272 passed the Lotus and Brabham runners to take a commanding win from start to finish, securing the first Formula One victory for a Japanese manufacturer, just over a year after Honda's F1 debut. Teammate Ronnie Bucknum added to the result with a 5th-place finish.
