Recreate one of Formula 1's most influential ground-effect racers with the Tamiya 1/20 Lotus Type 79 1978. Known as the “Black Beauty”, the Type 79 refined Lotus's groundbreaking ground-effect concept with a slim monocoque chassis, wide side pontoons and carefully developed aerodynamics that helped make it one of the defining cars of its era.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

Tamiya's highly detailed kit reproduces the Lotus Type 79's low, sleek profile and distinctive side-pontoon undersurfaces. The front and rear cowlings can be removed even after assembly to reveal the cockpit, engine and suspension. A detailed Ford DFV engine features metal air-funnel covers and plug cables, while alternative roll bars and side-pontoon air outlets allow the model to represent different cars and configurations.
