Tamiya 1/24 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI Plastic Model Kit

The Tamiya 1/24 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI recreates the rally-honed street car that carried Mitsubishi's World Rally Championship know-how straight onto the showroom floor.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution V won the 1998 WRC Manufacturers' Title, with Tommi Mäkinen earning the Drivers' Title the same year. Continuing refinement of the car for the 1999 rally season led to the development of the Evolution VI. The street car version was announced in January 1999 and put the experience derived from rallying to use. The first modifications centred on the aggressive exterior: on the right side of the bumper, the oil cooler air intake was enlarged and a new air outlet created to improve efficiency, while the licence plate was offset to the left to improve radiator airflow. The rear spoiler is a delta-type twin wicker with an adjustable angle on the upper wing, increasing downforce for extra stability. Reliable, abundant power is provided by the 4G63 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with an intercooled turbocharger, transferred through a full-time 4WD transmission — a helical limited-slip differential at the front, a viscous LSD at the centre, and an Active Yaw Control differential at the rear. The front wheels are suspended on MacPherson struts, the rear on multi-links, resulting in an exceptional vehicle with superior handling.
