The Tamiya 1/24 Morris Mini Cooper Racing celebrates one of motorsport's true giant-killers, recreating the go-kart-like Mini that punched far above its weight on circuits throughout the 1960s. MINI trademarks used are licensed by BMW AG.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

Introduced in October 1959, the Morris Mini broke from the automotive conventions of its day, using compact 2-box styling and a front-engine, front-wheel-drive layout to package a genuinely spacious four-seat cabin into a car barely 3 metres long, despite its modest 848cc, 34hp engine and 115km/h top speed. Its innovative "Hydrolastic" four-wheel independent suspension, introduced in 1964, was another engineering first. The Mini also proved a natural on the racetrack, and John Cooper's tuning turned it into the Morris Mini Cooper. A string of engine upgrades followed through the early 1960s — 997cc, then 998cc, a 1,071cc/67.5hp Cooper S in 1963, and a 1,275cc/75hp version in 1964 alongside a specialised 970cc racing variant. The hottest "Works Minis" — modified 1275S and 970S competition cars — dominated racing in 1964 and 1965, and the marque went on to claim the 1967 1,300cc class title in the British Saloon Car Championship, the 1968 European Touring Car Championship, and the BSCC title again that same year.
