Tamiya 1/32 North American F-51D Mustang Korean War American Fighter-Bomber Plastic Model Kit

The Tamiya 1/32 North American F-51D Mustang Korean War recreates the Mustang's later combat career in impressive 1/32 scale, with new parts for Korean War equipment, HVAR rockets, communications equipment, a wider paddle-blade propeller, and options for parked or in-flight display.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

Following WWII, the Mustang was redesignated F-51D as the U.S. Air Force adopted its new naming system. Although the arrival of jet fighters appeared to signal the end of the Mustang's frontline career, the outbreak of the Korean War gave the aircraft a new role. Its excellent range and low-speed handling made it particularly useful for ground-attack missions, especially where forward airfields and runways were limited. F-51Ds subsequently provided valuable close air support for United Nations forces.
