TAMIYA 1/35 M3A2 HALF-TRACK PERSONNEL CARRIER

Tamiya 1/35 U.S. M3A2 Half-Track Personnel Carrier Plastic Model Kit

The Tamiya 1/35 U.S. M3A2 Half-Track Personnel Carrier recreates the most accomplished of America's WWII half-track family, right down to a detailed driver's position, rear seating and no fewer than nine figures.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

Although half-tracks had been looked at with interest in U.S. military circles since the late 1920s, it took the outbreak of WWII to provide real impetus for their uptake, as the original M2 was followed quickly by vehicles such as the M3 and the M3A1 as part of the mechanisation of U.S. forces; all told, over 40,000 were produced during the conflict. The M3A2 was perhaps the most accomplished, having benefitted from experience gained in the design and deployment of its predecessors: its open-top turret was fitted with reinforced armour plate, and it could carry up to 12 soldiers. Its 143hp inline-six petrol engine could provide speeds of up to 72km/h, and finely tuned suspension with driven front wheels made the M3A2 at home on tricky surfaces. It was deployed between late 1943 and the end of the conflict across various theatres, even receiving personnel carrier and SPG variants, and remained in service with militaries including the Japan Ground Self-Defence Forces into the 1970s.
