The Tamiya 1/48 Republic P-47D Thunderbolt "Razorback" recreates the early-production Thunderbolt in imposing 1/48 scale, capturing its massive fuselage, powerful engine cowling, distinctive razorback upper fuselage, and heavy fighter-bomber armament.

The Republic P-47D Thunderbolt was one of the most powerful single-engine fighters operated by the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. Its powerful engine and supercharger gave it excellent high-altitude performance for bomber escort missions, while its robust construction and heavy armament made it particularly effective in the ground-attack role. Early P-47D aircraft featured the distinctive raised rear fuselage behind the cockpit, earning them the nickname "Razorback."
