Tamiya 1/700 U.S. Navy Battleship BB-61 Iowa Waterline Plastic Model Kit

The Tamiya 1/700 U.S. Battleship BB-61 Iowa is a highly detailed plastic assembly model kit of the USS Iowa, known as America's Last King of the Sea. Part of Tamiya's Water Line Series, it depicts Iowa as she appeared during the Marianas Campaign in 1944 and includes a full colour finishing guide for the Measure 32/1B camouflage used in that campaign.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

Commissioned in February 1943, the USS Iowa served briefly in the Atlantic before departing for the Pacific Theater in January 1944. She mainly supported carrier-based air strikes against Japanese-held islands, protecting the carriers and shelling enemy shore and naval positions. Iowa took part in the Marianas campaign and the Battle of Leyte Gulf, although she missed a chance for a showdown with the Japanese battleship Yamato. After assisting the assault on the Philippines, she took part in the Okinawa invasion and supported air strikes on Kyushu. Together with her sister ships USS Missouri and USS Wisconsin, Iowa bombarded industrial cities on the Japanese homeland towards the end of the war.
