The Messerschmitt Bf109 served the Luftwaffe throughout WWII. The E-3 variant, described by Tamiya as the first true mass-production Bf109, reached units from late 1939 and could reach speeds of up to 570km/h. It operated over Belgium and France during the German invasions before becoming involved in the Battle of Britain, where the Bf109 E-3 engaged British Hurricane and Spitfire fighters.
