Tamiya 1/72 Vought F4U-1A Corsair WWII US Navy Fighter Aircraft Plastic Model Kit

The Tamiya 1/72 Vought F4U-1A Corsair bridges the gap between Tamiya's earlier F4U-1 "Bird Cage" and F4U-1D Corsair kits, chronicling the key improvements the type underwent during its production run.

Please note this is an unassembled plastic model kit requiring assembly; paints, cement and hobby tools are not included and are required to complete the model.

Introduced into service in 1942, the Vought F4U-1 Corsair was defined by its distinctive inverted gull wings and a massive 2,000hp engine driving the largest propeller fitted to a fighter aircraft at the time. While its performance and toughness impressed pilots, early shortcomings including poor forward visibility, a restricted view from the framed "Bird Cage" canopy, and uneven wing stall characteristics led to a series of running production improvements that culminated in the F4U-1A. These included a longer tailwheel leg for better forward visibility, a redesigned canopy for improved all-round vision, and a subtle stall strip added to the right wing's leading edge to bring both wings' stall speeds into line.
